Milk and Coffee Stains – How To Get It Off Your Rugs

08/30/2013 Back To Blog

Among the items that commonly blot and dull carpets  are milk and coffee stains. With these types of stains, Carpet Cleaning Santa Clara experts stress that time is of the essence, because the sooner you act and remove the spills, the easier it would be for you to remove them. Let’s look at a few of the tested and proven residential carpet cleaning techniques for removing milk and coffee spills from rugs.

What You’ll Require

To effectively eliminate coffee and milk stains, you will require the following home carpet cleaning items:

1  Baking soda and vinegar

2  Mild detergent or dish soap

3  White-foam shaving cream

4  Paper towel or soft cloth

5  Water

6  Vinegar

7  Spray Bottle

Coffee Stain-Removal Techniques

For effective coffee carpet stain removal, here are the following steps to follow:

1  If the coffee spill is still fresh, immediately blot the area to absorb as much spills as possible. Next, spray the area with plain water, and quickly blot with a clean cloth. Repeat the process until all the coffee stains are removed.

2  If the stain is still there, apply a mild soap or detergent, and gently rub the carpet’s fibers using your fingers. Spray the area with water, and make sure you blot it several times.

3  Rinse the affected area by spraying it with clean water. But if you still see some stains, you could try applying a foam shaving cream using a soft cloth, and rub it gently over the area.

4   For tougher coffee stains, you could try mixing a paste of baking soda and water, for potent stain removal.  Just make sure it’s a thick or consistent as toothpaste. Spread the mixture over the area, and allow it to dry.

5  Once the area is dry, vacuum it fully until it all moisture is completely removed.
